Decking Contractors in Dubai
Outdoor decking built for Dubai heat
A deck turns a sloping or uneven corner of the garden into usable floor, and it gives a pool surround a warmer feel than bare stone. Done well, it stays level, drains properly and is comfortable underfoot in summer. Done badly, it cups, splits or burns your feet.
Exterior Space Landscape Works builds outdoor decking for villas across Dubai: around pools, under pergolas, on raised terraces and as stepped platforms that link a seating area to the lawn.
This page covers the deck itself. If you are also planning a pergola, lighting and planting, see our outdoor living spaces page for the full backyard, or our pergola page for shade.

Materials and Dubai conditions
Surface heat. Boards in direct sun can be too hot to stand on barefoot, and dark colours are the worst. Pick a lighter tone and test a sample in the afternoon sun before ordering.
Timber. Hardwoods and thermally modified timber cope with heat and moisture better than softwood. They still grey in UV and need regular cleaning and oiling to keep their colour.
Composite. No oiling, no splinters, and it does not rot. It expands with heat, so the boards need expansion gaps and the right fixings, and some colours fade over time.
The frame underneath. What is under the deck matters as much as the boards. Aluminium or properly treated timber, with airflow beneath and a slight fall so water does not sit, lasts far longer in Dubai’s humidity.
Salt and chlorine. Pool splash and coastal air are hard on fixings. Stainless screws or hidden fixings last better than plain steel.
Decks and pools
Around a pool, the deck needs slip resistance, so grooved or textured boards, and gaps or channels so splash and rain drain away. It needs a clean edge at the coping and access panels over the pump, valves and cleaning lines, so nobody has to lift the deck later.
On an existing pool, the old paving can hide drainage or level problems that should be fixed before boards go down. On a new pool, we plan the deck with the pool structure. See our swimming pool construction page for the pool side, or pool renovation for an existing pool.

Decking questions
Timber or composite decking: which is better in Dubai?
Both work if they are specified and fixed properly. Hardwood and thermally modified timber handle heat and moisture well and look natural, but they need cleaning and oiling to hold their colour. Composite needs no oiling and does not splinter, but it expands in heat, so it needs the right gaps and fixings, and some colours fade over time. If you want the least upkeep, composite is the easier choice. If you want a natural look and will maintain it, timber is better.
Can I walk on a deck barefoot in summer?
It depends on the colour and the material. Dark boards in direct afternoon sun get uncomfortably hot, which matters around a pool where people walk barefoot. Lighter tones stay cooler. We suggest checking a sample outside in the afternoon sun before you order.
Can you build a deck around an existing pool?
Yes. The pool edge, the levels and the drainage need checking first, and the deck needs access panels for the pump, valves and cleaning lines so nobody has to lift boards later. See our pool renovation page if the pool surround needs work as well.
How do I look after a timber deck?
Sweep it, rinse it, and clean it with a deck cleaner when it gets dull. In full sun, plan to oil or seal it at least once a year, or it will grey and start to split. Composite only needs washing.
Do I need permission to build a deck?
A ground-level deck in your own garden usually needs less approval than a pergola. Raised platforms, decks near boundary walls and anything that changes drainage can need sign-off from your community, so ask your community management before work starts.
How much does decking cost?
It depends on the area, the material and the frame underneath, so we price after a site visit and design. Call or WhatsApp +971 50 660 2296 to book a visit.
